ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Lawrence Education Center offers an Adult Diploma Program with high school credit courses leading to a Springfield Public School District #186 diploma, along with High School Equivalency (GED) Exam prep, and Career Exploration courses. Students must turn 17 before May 1 in order to enroll in the HSE Exam prep courses.
Stephens Amendment
The Lawrence Education Center's educational program is 49% federally funded in the amount of $417,225. The program is funded by the Illinois Community College Board and the Land of Lincoln Workforce Alliance.
Adult Education Registration 2023-2024
For the 2023-24 school year, Lawrence Education Center's registration will be every Tues., Weds., and Thurs., from 8:30-10:30a.m. Students must come to LEC at 2501 Wabash Avenue, Suite B15A (at White Oaks Mall) to register. There will be times when registration will be canceled for staff trainings or other events. Please call 217-525-3233 to check days/times and for more information.
If you are under 18, you must bring your parent or guardian to enroll in the adult education programs. Students who are age 16 or 17 must bring a Permit to Enter and a transcript from their home high school.
There will be a reading test given during the registration process. Student Services staff will review results with you, determine your program, provide info for career pathway decisions, and schedule your start day and time. Call 217-525-3233 for more information.
